The Blue Chaffinch

Garden ringing and a tick. What struck me immediately was their small size - noticeably a size smaller that a goldfinch - and the brightness of the plumage. This really is a superb looking bird. The tail is very short, giving it a very characteristic jizz. Friday, 8 June 2012. At last, we have a new arrival. Our newts have bred! After keeping a few Marbled newts Triturus marmoratus. Over the following week it has grown into a reall.

Birdzones Adventures of amateur ornithologists

The first time I spent two weeks visiting family in Hobara, a rural town near Fukushima and one week in Sendai. The second time I spent two weeks in the north of Honshu, some time in Tokyo, and then to Kyoto where I visited a museum to see a number of Japanese automata. Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge struck by Japanese tsunami.

Monday, March 5, 2018. We made our way upstream to the last dam on the creek, and while we were there two Crested Caracaras flew by. This is a dramatically patterned member of the falcon family that is extending its range north in Texas and is an uncommon bird for Lake Creek Trail. Monday, February 5, 2018.
